Ensembl integration
Look up genes, transcripts and variants, get reference sequences, cross-references and Variant Effect Predictor (VEP) annotations from the public Ensembl REST API. No key or sign-up needed. Read-only.
Build it by describing it
Type a sentence like this and the copilot builds, validates and simulates the workflow.- Simulated before it goes live
- Fixes proposed when something breaks
- One credit per run
Actions
Then Calibra can do this for you- DOLook Up Gene by Symbol
Finds a gene in Ensembl by its symbol (for example BRCA2) and returns its Ensembl ID, location, biotype and description, and optionally its transcripts.
- DOLook Up Ensembl ID
Gets a gene, transcript or protein by its Ensembl stable ID (for example ENSG00000157764): species, location, biotype and, optionally, its transcripts, MANE and UTR features and phenotypes.
- DOPredict Variant Effect (VEP)
Runs the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor on one variant (rsID, COSMIC ID or HGVS notation) and returns its location, most severe consequence and the effect on each transcript, with SIFT, PolyPhen and optional extra annotations. For research use; never enter patient identifiers.
- DOGet Variant
Gets a known variant from Ensembl by its ID (for example rs56116432): location, alleles, minor allele frequency, evidence and, optionally, population frequencies and phenotypes.
- DOGet Genomic Region Sequence
Gets the reference DNA sequence of a genomic region, for example X:1000000..1000100:1 (up to 10 Mb), with optional repeat masking and flanking bases.
- DOGet Gene or Transcript Sequence
Gets the sequence of an Ensembl gene, transcript or protein by its ID: genomic, cDNA (with UTRs), CDS (coding only) or protein.
- DOGet Cross-References
Lists the external database IDs linked to an Ensembl ID: HGNC, RefSeq, UniProt, OMIM, UCSC, Entrez Gene and more.
- DOCustom Ensembl API Request (read-only)
Makes a GET request to any endpoint of the Ensembl REST API, for example /homology/symbol/human/BRCA2 or /info/assembly/homo_sapiens. JSON is requested by default.
Questions
Is the Ensembl integration free?
Yes. Ensembl is available on every Calibra plan, including the free plan, which needs no card.
How is Ensembl usage billed?
Calibra charges one credit per workflow run, however many steps it has. Steps that read from or write to this app do not cost extra.
Can I connect Ensembl without writing code?
Yes. Describe the process in plain words and the AI copilot builds the workflow with Ensembl for you. You can also use templates or the visual editor.
Describe your first process. Watch it run today.
Free plan, no card. One credit per run, however many steps it has.
